Ginger is safe for most people. Some may develop mild side effects of heartburn, diarrhea and general stomach discomfort. When applied to the skin, it may cause irritation. Using ginger during pregnancy is controversial due to the concern of affecting the hormonal level of the fetus. However, there have been multiple studies suggesting that ginger is a safe remedy against morning sickness without any harm to the fetus; as with any medications taken while pregnant, consult your doctor. Avoid using ginger if you have any blood disorders since it may increase your risk of bleeding. High doses of ginger might worsen some heart disorders, so consult your doctor if you suffer from any heart conditions.
