With male enhancement commercials being all over TV, you getting countless male enhancement spam and “Smiling Bob” becoming a commonly known character, one must ask "Where did all of this begin?" Is male enhancement a new fad? Companies preying on the self-perceived deficiencies of men, using a male’s overall lack of confidence and/or performance in the bedroom as their hook; or does this stuff actually work? You will get a quick overview of male enhancement history and whether these male enhancement products actually might work.

The earliest recorded history of male enhancement use dates back to early China, where the emperor’s scientists kept logs of the effects different combinations of herbs and such had on the male. You see, the emperors of that time had a problem: they kept hundreds of women as their concubines, however how does one male take advantage of hundreds of females? The libido, stamina, and staying power of a man are just not good enough to handle such a task. The emperors therefore created “departments” of scientists that researched long life and male enhancement. The emperors also gave the scientists a great incentive, if a scientist could not come up with a medicine that would enhance the emperor’s sexual function that scientist would die by the emperor’s sword.

The first real recorded major improvement that has taken notice in the record books is that the scientists finally came up with something that had a major effect. Most emperors before this time lived to be thirty to fifty years old. Around the 1700’s a huge change happened, these emperors started living to be almost ninety years old, that’s two to three times longer than before. There was also a significant increase in the number of concubines the emperors held. Before this time, as I mentioned earlier, it was common for the emperor to have several hundred concubines; after the 1700’s the number just jumped through the roof. Many emperors after the 1700’s had several thousand concubines! There is some doubt placed as to the specific reason for such drastic changes. However there is a significant scientific community that credits these changes to the Chinese scientists stumbling onto something that worked.

In 1971, China abolished concubinage and since then the imperial need for male enhancement quickly diminished. This has caused some of the knowledge gained to disappear, perhaps from existence. There is still some hope that the current imperial dynasty has simply decided not to share the knowledge that their scientist gathered.

Somewhere about 1990, a whole new major shift in the world became very evident. The world and all of its countries were moving toward a more co-operative, some would say a one world government, relationships. Knowledge quickly zoomed from one end of the world to the other mainly by means of Internet, and what once was secluded to specific regions of the world quickly became accessible by all parts of the world. Male enhancement is no exception. The once Chinese only, secretive, research methods soon became available to the rest of the world. Herbs like ginseng and ginkgo became very popular in an unprecedented amount of time. Their use in USA and many other countries simply exploded; other herbs also started quickly coming to light, such as epimedium, usually known as horny goat weed. Today some of the top laboratories are expanding on the thousands of years of Chinese male enhancement research with today’s technology and are able to discover even more effective means of male enhancement than ever before. One such laboratory is Albion Medical and among the many areas of research that they are involved in, they have a major department that is dedicated only to male enhancement and creating an ever more effective form of male enhancement. They already have the second, improved, version of their product; they call it VigRx Plus. VigRx Plus has just gotten back from a human double placebo study and it shows significant increases in the ability to maintain an erection, ability to penetrate your partner, the length and quality of orgasms, and sex drive and desire, among other benefits.

Does this mean that by taking a male enhancement product you’ll be able to service thousands of women? The realistic answer is no. One thing that wasn’t mentioned is that the emperors not only used male enhancements that were produced by their scientists, they also followed the strictest forms of diet and exercise. It was not uncommon for the emperor, who could get anything he wanted, to eat just rice for lunch and even be a master of a karate form. On top of that they were raised their whole life on these strict methods of eating and exercise. All of these factors contributed to the Chinese emperors having legendary libido. So perhaps you may not be able to handle several thousand concubines, but at the very least you will definitely be able to take care of your one partner; or two if the chance for a threesome ever arose.
