Velvet deer antler
Velvet deer antler is very commonly used in Chinese traditional medicine, as has been so for several thousand years. Its use has spread throughout the rest of the world and is recognized for its inflammation reducing and performance enhancement properties, although more recently it has also been included for male sexual enhancement as well.
Velvet deer antler is, in fact, deer antler that is ground down pre-calcification and ingested directly or as a tea. Its use is very popular in Asia, especially China, rivaling even Ginseng. There are many claims to velvet deer antler including anti-cancer, strengthening the immune system, male enhancement, inflammation reduction and athletic performance enhancement although scientific studies only confirm the reduction of inflammation and performance enhancement properties.
Considering the common causes of sexual dysfunction, cancer and other ailments (which is poor blood flow or cellular oxygen for waste exchange) and the velvet 's enhancement of the blood's ability to effectively exchange oxygen for wastes, it comes as no surprise that velvet has shown benefits in these areas.
To date there have not been any reported side effects. Velvet deer antler is a natural source of IGF-1 so potential for drug interactions exist although we were unable to find any reported cases.
